We went to campus today since I had an interview for a graduate assistantship (which I got!) and to look at apartments (which I don’t know if I’ll be able to get due to time frame).  I finally broke down and bought a cane to help with the extensive walking and though I was embarrassed to walk with it at first, it quickly became a necessity and I’m glad I brought it. I got looks from students who thought they were being discreet, but it was still embarrassing. So I just remembered how awesome I looked and got on with it with my head held high.
You can’t expect to feel 100% everyday, but you can make everyone else think you do.

When I bought my cane my main thought was making sure it was cute and didn’t look like a grandma’s cane.  I’d found a teal one that was okay, and my mom picked up another one as a joke and said “Look how grandma this one is.” My eyes went wide and I told her it was perfect.  It has a floral design, which again is in this season, and its all jewel tones with a pretty fake wooden handle.  Its the perfect amount of ‘fashion’ without trying too hard. I wanted something that I could wear easily with any outfit I put together, without just getting plain black, and I think this one did the trick perfectly.
I got my dress months ago at a consignment shop, so I actually have no idea how old it is, but the geometric pattern with the pretty bright orange makes it a pretty timeless summer dress- plus the almost sweetheart neckline is perfect.  I’ve always been a big fan of sweetheart and boat necklines.
I knew I’d need a jacket though due to 1. the fact I was going to an interview even if it was casual, 2. one of my medications is making me break out really bad on my shoulders and back and I wanted to cover that up.  So I went to my closet and said “Are jean jackets still a thing?” and decided I didn’t care 1994 was going to be proud of this outfit and wore it anyway. Sometimes the best accessory isn’t what’s fashionable, its how you wear it.
Finally the shoes are literally the most comfortable things I have ever owned.  I wore them to Disney world, chasing a 9 year old, and my feet never hurt once.  They’re on their last leg now, and I don’t have much wear left in them and sadly MIA doesn’t make them anymore I would literally buy 10 pairs if I could find them again so I wouldn’t ever run out, that’s how comfy they are.  But They also have that gladiator sandal feeling without being obnoxious.
